Equipment engineering

The engineering department at UMCJ is responsible for starting up new production lines and selecting and installing new equipment to respond to increases in manufacturing demand, as well as carrying out troubleshooting and equipment maintenance functions.
UMCJ strongly believes that maintaining a stable production process and building more efficient production lines that enable even greater yields requires investment in state-of-the-art facilities.
The engineering department therefore has a vital role in UMCJ's strong support organization.

Increased production yield through prompt equipment installation/startup
Realized by:
‘Connection with power plant and operation of equipment carried out in parallel
‘Round-the-clock equipment installation for startup
‘Reduced inspection items due to elimination of redundancies
‘Elimination of unnecessary check items
(Aim)
@@Required Startup Time@ƒ1/2~Conventional Startup Time
@ Less than half the industry average

MTBF/MTTR
Realized by:
‘Training/education programs to produce expert engineers
‘Review of regular maintenance suitability
‘Promotion of deposit inventory
‘Formal cooperation with experienced UMC engineers
‘On-site support engineers at equipment vendors
‘24-hour equipment operation support
(Aim)
@@1) Up Time; „99“
@@2) MTBF; „1,000hr
@@3) MTTR; ƒ1hr

ENGINEER
‘24-hour support through shift-work system
‘Fully backed up by UMC (expert engineers transferred from UMC)
